Andy started in the building materials supply industry in May of 1997 while living in Syracuse, NY – where he discovered that he had a passion for working with the trades. In 2002 he became the youngest store manager at the privately held lumberyard chain he worked for, and he was later recruited by a large, publicly traded building materials dealer in 2007 to help develop their outside sales presence in Rochester, NY. Since then he’s expanded his reach to the entire east coast of the country and as far west as Texas in the south to Michigan in the north by focusing on working with large real estate developers and property management firms with projects and holdings across the continental U.S.
He acts as a purchasing & procurement consultant / advisor for his customers, helping them structure and plan their purchases to maximize their dollars – taking into consideration time and labor costs, as well as product lifespan and ROI break-even timing. He prides himself on having learned the business from his customers, inquiring about how and why they operate the way they do to better understand the varied approaches they use in the field. Understanding the vision, goals, and priorities of his clients helps him advise them on how to best integrate his solutions into their procurement supply chain.
Andy has experience working as an advisor on projects of all sizes, from single room remodels to the new construction of 34,000 square-foot single family mansions, as well as hotels, restaurants, apartment complexes, student housing and commercial & residential rehab/renovation. He takes a proactive approach to project management on the procurement side, identifying challenges before they happen and putting systems in place to avoid them.
He attended LeMoyne college in Syracuse, NY and has earned and maintained CAPS and CGA certifications from the National Association of Home Builders. Since 2016, Andy has served on the Board of Directors for the Upstate Building Industry Alliance, and is active with various local and national business networking groups and charitable organizations, including the Freedom First Real Estate Investment Association, (a local affiliate member of the National Real Estate Investors Association), the Rochester Home Builders Association, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the National Kitchen and Bath Association.
Andy grew up in the suburbs of Syracuse, NY and moved to the Rochester area in 2003. Currently he lives in the country about a half hour east of Rochester, a few minutes off the south shore of Lake Ontario with his wife, 4-year-old son, and their German Shepherd. He enjoys craft beer, quality Scotch, and cooking on his Weber ® Grill or in his Big Green Egg ®, as well as reading, video gaming and watching movies with his 11.2 surround system. In his spare time, he enjoys working around the yard, on his vehicles, and on his 1950’s farmhouse making various improvements and repairs.
